CME Exchange Expands Crypto Futures to Include Cardano, Chainlink, and Stellar
CME Group, the Chicago-based derivatives exchange, is expanding its cryptocurrency product suite with the introduction of futures contracts for Cardano (ADA), chainlink (LINK), and Stellar (XLM) on February 9. These new offerings, regulated by the CFTC, will include both standard and micro-sized contracts, catering to diverse investor appetites.
The ADA futures will cover 100,000 tokens, while micro contracts will represent 10,000 ADA. LINK futures are set at 5,000 tokens, with micro contracts at 250 LINK. Stellar's XLM will feature 250,000-token futures and micro contracts of 12,500 XLM. All products will be cash-settled on CME's regulated platform.
This expansion follows a 139% year-over-year surge in crypto derivatives demand. Giovanni Vicioso, CME's Global Head of Crypto Products, notes institutional clients are increasingly seeking regulated instruments to manage risk and gain exposure in this volatile market.
